[Geneva, 6th Archyde.com]–The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) officials said yesterday that nearly 25 million tonnes of grain might not be exported and stagnated in Ukraine due to the invasion by Russia. The cause is infrastructure problems and the blockade of ports in the Black Sea such as Mariupol.

Ukraine is one of the world’s leading exporters of corn and wheat.

FAO’s market and trade executives said in an online press conference that silos were full and might run out of silos at the next harvest.

“Despite the war (with Russia), the harvest situation is not bad, especially if export routes are not established, it may not be possible to secure sufficient storage capacity,” he said.

He also pointed out that some storage facilities were destroyed in battle.
