Kaled Boukaka, member of the monitoring and evaluation service at the National AIDS Control Program (PNLS) returned this Saturday, August 14 to the statistics relating to HIV/AIDS in Congo. It shows that nearly 130,000 people live with this disease in Congo.
The National AIDS Control Program (PNLS) unveiled this Sunday, August 14, statistics concerning the evolution of HIV / AIDS at the international and national levels. According to Kaled Boukaka of the program’s monitoring and evaluation department, AIDS continues to circulate despite the presence of the Covid-19 pandemic since 2020 in the world and in Congo in particular. « At a time when the coronavirus pandemic has taken hold of us, it is appropriate to point out that HIV has not ceased to strike populations. It is in this sense that you must understand that more than a billion people are living with HIV in the world. In Congo, an estimated 130,000 people are living with HIV », he said. Faced with this situation, the Ministry of Health encourages the Congolese population to undergo screening to find out their serological status. An HIV/AIDS screening campaign was launched by the PNLS on August 10th. It is held simultaneously in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire. « It is important to know your state of health and to know your state of health is to save yourself and save others. We provide the Congolese population with the opportunity to know their serological status free of charge », added Kaled Boukaka. He also recalled the free care of patients with HIV in various health facilities in the country. Source: congomediatime
