Approval of dividing traffic violations and reducing them by 25%

“Okaz” has learned regarding the issuance of a decree approving amendments to the traffic system, including a partial permit to pay the value of the traffic fine for one violation.

The sources learned that the amendments included a permit to reduce the value of the traffic fine by no more than 25% of the value of the upper limit in accordance with regulations set by the Minister of Interior in agreement with the Minister of Finance.

According to the amendments to the traffic system, the following was decided:

1- Amending paragraph (2) to read as follows:

2- Subject to Paragraph (2) of Article (seventy-third) of this Law, and the contents of Paragraph (3) of this Article, if the period prescribed for objecting to the violation has passed as stipulated in Paragraph (1) of this Article without objection, Or in the event that the competent court rejects the objection of the violator, or a judgment is issued to modify the amount of the fine resulting from the violation recorded once morest him, the violator must pay the fine within a period not exceeding (15) days, and the violator may submit a request during this period to grant him a grace period of up to 90 days. days to pay the fine.

If the violator does not pay within the specified period, it is permissible to seize and implement the balances of his bank accounts directly in accordance with a mechanism established by the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank of Saudi Arabia, and the Board of Grievances.

The Ministry of Interior, in agreement with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministerial Committee for Traffic Safety, determines the violations that do not apply to seizure and direct execution, and which do not endanger public safety.

2- Amending paragraph (3) to read as follows:

3 – The payment of the traffic fine for a single offense may be divided. The value of the traffic fine may also be reduced by a percentage not exceeding (25%) of its minimum value, in accordance with regulations set by the Minister of Interior in agreement with the Minister of Finance.

A draft royal decree has been prepared to that effect, the wording of which accompanies this.

Second: The Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank of Saudi Arabia, and the Board of Grievances have agreed on the necessary procedures for the seizure and enforcement of traffic violations, in light of the provisions of paragraph (2) of Article (seventy-fifth), referred to. In Clause (First) of this Resolution.
