The Gathering of the People of Guinea (RPG) party held its general assembly this Saturday, August 12, 2023. On this occasion, Mohamed Lamine Kamissoko spoke on the issue related to the appointment of district leaders by governors.

This member of the political office of the former party in power, maintains that behind this idea of the junta hides a desire to stay in power.

“When I see the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization saying that we must appoint neighborhood leaders and district presidents, this is an attempt to monopolize and also to stay in power. And what’s more, when he says that the head of the district must be between 18 and 25, it’s more serious, it’s very dangerous for the country. I’m not once morest youth, I’m not once morest old age but since mankind exists, youth has always worked alongside old age to gain experience, knowledge and skill. Old age cannot go without youth and youth cannot go without the experience of the old. That’s how humanity is.”

Moreover, Mohamed Lamine Kamissoko affirms that everything that happens in the neighborhoods is done in front of the citizens. So, for him, the junta has only one will, that of staying in power.

“We all know what is going on in the neighborhoods. The steps that are being taken are either to go on forever or to prepare someone who will come to protect the interests of the military junta. All these muted steps in our neighborhoods happen in our hands”.
