Abu Dhabi, 27 October / WAM / The Inter-Parliamentary Union approved the appointment of His Excellency Marwan Obaid Al Muhairi, member of the Emirati Parliamentary Division of the Union, and member of the Steering Committee of the World Trade Organization Parliamentary Conference, as “Rapporteur” for the conference hosted by the Federal National Council in cooperation with the International Parliament and the European Union on the sidelines of The Thirteenth Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization in February 2024 in the capital, Abu Dhabi.
The UAE’s hosting of the World Trade Organization parliamentary conference is an embodiment of the existing relationship of cooperation and partnership between the Federal National Council, the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the European Parliament, and a continuation of the successes of UAE parliamentary diplomacy during its participation in international parliamentary events.
Hosting also comes in line with the reputation and distinguished position that the UAE enjoys through its membership in the World Trade Organization, as an active member of the global multilateral trading system, and a culmination of its efforts and status as a major gateway to global trade and investment.
