Appointment of Chairman PCB Advisor Waqar Younis challenged in Lahore High Court – Sports

The appointment of Waqar Younis, adviser to Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi, was challenged in the Lahore High Court.

Citizen Mashkoor Hussain filed a petition in Lahore High Court through Nadeem Sarwar, Federal Government, PCB and Waqar Younis have been made parties in the petition.

The petition stated that the PCB had appointed Waqar Yohanas as an advisor last month but in an unusual move they have now issued an advertisement for the said post this month inviting applications.

According to the petition, the strange approach taken by the Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB in the process of hiring Waqar Younis raises several questions regarding the management of the board.

Chairman PCB’s decision to hand over cricket affairs to the former captain

According to the petitioner, it may be mentioned here that PCB had appointed former South African Test cricketer Gary Kirsten (white ball coach) and former Australian Test fastman Jason Gillespie (red ball coach) as coaches.

He pleaded that the appointment of Waqar Younis as an adviser is against the law because no advertisement was given in the newspaper for his appointment, so the Lahore High Court should declare the appointment of Waqar Younis as an adviser to the chairman PCB null and void.
