The former journalist of the public channel France Télévisions, Dominique Pradalié, was elected this Thursday, new president of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), gathered for its 31st world congress in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman.
Ms. Pradallié, a former secretary general of the National Union of Journalists (SNJ), was the only candidate, she obtained 193 votes in her favor, once morest 62 no and eleven abstentions, according to a press release from the federation.
His mandate should be four years (instead of three), to make the organization of the next congress in 2026 coincide with the centenary of the IJF, founded in 1926 in Paris.
The new president succeeds Moroccan Younes M’Jahed, elected in 2019 in Tunis.

It should be recalled that the IFJ is the largest organization of journalists in the world, representing 600,000 media professionals affiliated to 187 unions and associations in more than 140 countries.
The Muscat congress, organized for the first time in the Middle East, must also choose a new executive committee (Comex) made up of sixteen members.
It brings together more than 250 participants, representatives of journalists’ unions and associations from 92 countries.
