Applications open for seniors to travel around the region – La Discusión 2024-07-15 12:32:43

Senior citizens in Ñuble will be able to discover and enjoy the tourist attractions of San Fabián, Valle Las Trancas, Valle del Itata, Cobquecura and Quillón, thanks to the “Strengthening Tourism for the Elderly” program, financed by the Regional Government and executed by Sernatur.

These are one-day or three-day and two-night trips, for which Senior Citizens’ Groups in the region can apply through the website www.goredenuble.cl from June 28 to July 12, where you can also download the rules.

Along with announcing the opening dates of the program, Governor Óscar Crisóstomo invited “all our senior citizens to apply. We will open the form today so that they can take various trips, thanks to a program that has been supported and approved by our regional councilors, and we will carry it out in conjunction with Sernatur.”

Regarding destinations, the authority indicated, “they are strategic tourist spots in our region, which we want to promote. This allows us to strengthen the economy in the low season, particularly in some areas of Ñuble, and in that sense we have made a very important effort to be able to help the local economy.”

Meanwhile, the Head of the Social and Human Development Division, Tamara Valenzuela, explained that “our program has a co-payment that we are lowering through Sernatur instruments. The trip, which is for one day, costs $10,000, which is the contribution that seniors who want to participate have to make, and for those seniors who want to participate in the three-day, two-night trip, there is a co-payment of $25,000 and they can do it through their groups.”

All the communes will be guaranteed a minimum of one trip, Tamara Valenzuela explained, “therefore we are inviting the 21 communes of Ñuble, their groups, considering that we have a high rate of senior citizens in the region; this program is also designed to strengthen the work that they have been doing in their organizations and we have also wanted to collaborate with the Regional Government in this area.”

The program is designed to run for 24 months, and is expected to benefit 2,315 passengers in 2024 and 1,543 in 2025.
