Apple’s under-screen fingerprint recognition technology project was canceled, focusing on iPhone punch-hole screen design – Mr. Crazy

In the past, a lot of news broke the news that Apple is developing an in-screen fingerprint scanner for the iPhone, which will be placed in Apple’s future products, enabling the iPhone Pro models to have both Face ID facial recognition and Touch ID screens. The fingerprint recognition function, until the foreign media recently obtained the latest news, confirmed that Apple engineers have no longer continued to develop the fingerprint recognition sensor under the iPhone screen, and the project has been temporarily suspended.

According to sources, Apple transferred all Touch ID work and resources to the Face ID team in January this year, mainly to allow the iPhone screen fingerprint recognition technology to be perfectly integrated with the Face ID facial recognition.

Recently, foreign media and Apple’s internal sources have confirmed many times that Apple’s design team has stopped developing the fingerprint recognition sensor under the iPhone screen, and has switched to another field of “Face ID facial recognition under the screen”.

Originally, Apple wanted to develop fingerprint recognition technology under the screen, in order to solve the problem that Face ID facial technology might not 100% recognize the mask unlocking, so Apple needed to add fingerprint recognition function to the screen. Finally, the Face ID team found a way to scan the outline around the eyes instead. Overcome the defects of previous Face ID masks to unlock, from iOS 15.4 will start supporting iPhone Wearing a Mask to Unlock Face IDthis feature will also become many Apple development trends in the future.

According to the source, Apple is working on hiding the Face ID bangs under the screen, and the iPhone 15 Pro series will be the first iPhone model without bangs, which will be launched in the fall of September 2023.

However, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman (Mark Gurman) previously claimed that Apple did start to study the fingerprint technology under the screen, and began to test on the iPhone 13, but because the yield rate might not meet Apple’s standards, the launch was delayed. Then it was announced once more that the iPhone 14 series will use an exclamation-type punch-hole screen design, and will hide the Face ID bangs under the screen.

Will Apple finally launch a hole-punch iPhone this year or will it be delayed until next year? All wait for more follow-up news, components and molds to reveal who is lying.
