Apple’s self-driving car still delayed

This makes nearly 15 years that the apple firm has been working on the development of his own car. Initially baptized “Titan”, this project still seems to have some lead in the wing. Some Apple executives are faced with autonomous driving (level 5), which they believe impossible to design with current technologies.

Thus, the ambition goes down a notch by being satisfied with autonomous driving only on the highway. It might therefore be a level three system, like a Mercedes Classe S. The Apple Car would therefore be equipped with pedals and a steering wheel. This new situation further delays this project, the development of which should extend until 2024, followed by tests in 2025, for a possible launch in 2026. Its introductory price is announced at 100 000 dollars.

In addition to the development of autonomous driving on the highway, Apple is faced with another major concern. For the moment, the American company does not have a partner to design the car as such. Discussions with Hyundai et Volkswagen, regarding two years ago, did not come to fruition. And no one seems to be jostling at the gate.

Will the Apple Car see the light of day?

Since 2007, Apple promises to disrupt the market by launching his own car almost 15 years ago! For the moment, no concept, or almost, has emerged, it is impossible to get an idea of its design (a concept so dear to Apple) and battery technology is constantly evolving. On the other side of the planet, the Chinese have been quick to create new brands (Wey, Not, BYD…), develop cars, and start their offensive on the European market…
