At the beginning of the month, we announced the plans of Apple for the construction of an office of more than 30 thousand square meters no Research Triangle Park (RTP), in North Carolina (United States). Now, other documents sent by the company to government authorities have revealed even more ambitious plans for the area.

According to Triangle Business Journalthe first phase of Apple’s on-site campus will include more than 83,000m² of built area. will be 65,000m² in officesmore than 17,000m² in accessory buildings and 3,000 parking spaces — a fairly high number, indicating that we will have many employees on site.

Of the six buildings provided for in the documents, the largest of them and two others should have around 20,000m² in total extension and about 22m in height. They will be destined for offices, while the rest will be accessories; there are indications that authorization will be required for escalation work to begin.

The title of one of the documents obtained through the portal is “Main Commercial Use Plans”, bearing a confidential information label. There is also a water distribution plan and environmental impact reports related to erosion control to be generated by the construction of the buildings.

Some design details have suggested that Apple’s PTR plans will indeed go beyond this first phase. The erosion mitigation plan calls for seven structures, but the water distribution plan includes a “future phase” where there would be a greater demand for water, so it was clear that we are yet to see further campus expansions. It is worth remembering that the total area acquired is more than 250,000m².

Obtained through the US freedom of information right (something like our Freedom of Information Act), the documents had data on timing and duration of construction of these sites removed from disclosure. So we still don’t know exactly when we’ll see this first campus phase standing — which should take a while — and Apple declined to comment on the matter.

As remembered by MacRumorsWhen completed, the North Carolina campus is expected to be one of Apple’s largest areas, after Apple Park in California and the Texas campus. The complex is expected to employ at least 3,000 people, with high salaries in areas such as machine learning, artificial intelligence and software engineering. The company already has a temporary office there since 2021.
