The American technology and electronics giant Apple has launched a new security feature for iPad tablet computers and iPhone smartphones as part of an operating system update that makes it impossible to access passwords and credit card numbers stored on the device by simply entering the password if the device is located outside the user’s usual areas, including Indicates that it may be stolen.

Once the smart device is detected far from its owner’s residence or workplace, a second layer of verification will be added to allow the user to access Apple’s password management system known as KeyChain and other saved financial details.

In this case, the device owner will have to use one of the biometric verification methods, such as a face image, fingerprint, etc.

Apple said: “These requirements help prevent anyone who steals your phone and knows your password from making vital changes to your account or device,” noting that this new feature is known as “protecting the stolen device” within days.

It is noteworthy that Apple added, in the latest update to the operating system, another security feature in order to make it more difficult for thieves to access any account and prevent its owner from accessing it, through an artificial and deliberate delay in implementing changes when they are made to the device’s security settings, in order to ensure that whoever enters them He is the real owner of the device or account.

For example, if you want to change your Apple ID account password, you will need to wait for an hour for the change to be implemented, following which you will be required to enter your face or fingerprint once more to activate the change. The new features are available on devices running iOS 17.3. At the same time, it will be available in the new version of the Mac OS 14.3 operating system.
