Apple revealed that 76 percent of all iPads introduced in the past four years are now running iPadOS 16, which was released last September. Meanwhile, 18% of iPads are running iPadOS 15, while the remaining 6% are still running iPadOS 14 and earlier.
Typical adoption rate for iPadOS 16 is 71%
If we count the iPads sold continuously, 71% of them are using iPadOS 16, 20% are using iPadOS 15, and the remaining 9% are using older versions of iPadOS.
The last time Apple disclosed adoption rates was in February, 50% of iPad users were using iPadOS 16, which means half of them had updated to iPadOS 16 in the past four months.
About 53 percent of users of iPad models released in the past four years were also using the latest operating system.
Meanwhile, 35% of users were using iPadOS 15, now down 20%, 13% using iPadOS 14 or earlier, now down 9%.
Apple also revealed an 81% iOS adoption rate for iOS 16, with 13% of iPhones still running iOS 16, compared to just 6% of devices running older versions.
For iPhone models released in the past 4 years, 90% are running iOS 16, 8% are running iOS 15, and the remaining 2% are running iOS 14 or earlier.
