You probably got it from the press in the last few days. Wildfires broke out in the US state of Hawaii last week. Almost 100 people lost their lives. Apple CEO Tim Cook has pledged that his company will make a donation to the local emergency aid.
Apple donates to victims of the Hawaii fires
The fires in Hawaii, which mainly rage on the islands of Maui and Hawaii, are now largely under control. Almost 100 people were killed by the fires, many were injured and numerous people are still missing. It is said that around 10,000 people had to flee the flames. Around 1,000 buildings are said to have been destroyed by the fire.
On X, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced a donation from his company to provide immediate on-site assistance. The Apple boss writes
Our thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones and with all those affected by the devastating wildfires on Maui and the island of Hawaii. We are very grateful to all first responders. Apple will donate to immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts.
In the past, Apple has regularly made donations to victims of natural disasters and to help them recover. Recently, among other things, for the victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
