- According to journalist Mark Gurman, Apple still hasn’t abandoned smart glasses
- It is also reportedly developing AirPods with cameras together with them
- However, we should wait for the official presentation until 2027
In the case of Apple, there is speculation not only about the successors of already existing devices, but very often also about completely new ones, with which the giant from Cupertino will want to reach new and existing customers. Among the most famous ones are, for example, the already canceled car, flexible iPhone or smart glasses. It is the last mentioned that have been inflected very often recently, especially with regard to the success that Meta has had with its glasses, which it created in collaboration with Ray-Ban. According to respected journalist Mark Gurman, this project is not from the realm of science fiction and is said to be in the works at Apple, just like AirPods with cameras.
Ray-Ban Meta style smart glasses
Gurman’s information suggests that Apple wants to use its multibillion-dollar investment in Vision Pro research and development in other areas of consumer electronics as well. At the same time, there are smart glasses in the style of Meta Ray-Ban, which could offer some functions from the big headset, together with the functions of visual intelligence, which was announced together with the introduction of the iPhone 16 series, and would fit like a glove into the glasses.
The glasses themselves are said not to offer full-fledged augmented reality, but are rather conceived as classic glasses with built-in cameras, microphones and speakers, and are therefore very similar in concept to the work from Meta. The price also remains one of the questions, as Meta Ray-Ban starts at 299 dollars (approx. 8,500 CZK with tax), while you can pay extra for better frames. Even this is not exactly a small amount considering that people with visual impairment still have to pay extra for dioptric glasses, which can make such a purchase quite expensive. How much Apple will value its venture, which is said to be planning it for 2027, is a mystery for now.

In addition to smart glasses, there was also speculation about a new type of AirPods. These should include cameras, although we currently have no idea what the AirPods would use them for. Several different options are offered, including, for example, the detection of the surroundings and its conversion into a voice description, which would significantly improve the quality of life, especially for people with visual disabilities. However, we will have to let ourselves be surprised by what Apple is planning for us.

Apple’s Smart Glasses: The Future is… Not Yet!
Ah, Apple – the tech giant that keeps us all guessing! Journalist Mark Gurman recently spilled the beans that Apple hasn’t given up on those elusive smart glasses everyone seems obsessed with. I mean, what’s next? A new flavor of iPhone that actually tastes good? We’re not quite there, but let’s dive into what we know so far about these specs.
- According to journalist Mark Gurman, Apple still hasn’t abandoned smart glasses.
- It is also reportedly developing AirPods with cameras together with them.
- However, we should wait for the official presentation until 2027.
The Green Light on Smart Glasses?
So, while poor skeptics were ready to toast to the demise of Apple’s smart glasses, Gurman says not so fast! You’d think with all the market speculation surrounding these shades, we’d see them fly off the production line faster than the flight of a bad pun at an awards show.
But alas, it seems Apple has taken a page from the George R.R. Martin playbook: “Winter is coming… in 2027!” Yes, folks, if you want a peek through Apple’s possible smart glasses, you’ll be waiting for a while. Maybe long enough for holographic sushi to become the norm!
Ray-Ban Meta Style: Can They Do It?
Gurman hints that Apple is eyeing a design reminiscent of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. Picture this: classic glasses with tech that makes you look like you could be spying on your neighbor or at least playing a game of “what’s behind that bush?” No augmented reality – just cameras, microphones, and speakers. Basically, if you wear them, you’ll look like a high-tech eavesdropper. Quite the look, right?
Now, what about the price? Ah, the age-old question! We know Meta’s starting price is around $299, which is a nice chunk of change, especially for those of us who squint at price tags. One can only imagine how much Apple will slap on their specs. $1,299? A grand? If you’re lucky, maybe they won’t charge you for the designer frames!
AirPods with Cameras: Capturing Sound and Vision?
But wait, there’s more! Apple is apparently messing around with the idea of new AirPods that come equipped with cameras. Now, to be fair, we’ve seen AirPods that can basically turn you into the human multisensory experience. But cameras? What are they recording? Your high notes? Your awful dance moves? “Yes, please, let’s make TikTok a bit more awkward.”
One suggested function is turning surroundings into voice descriptions for the visually impaired. Now, that’s clever. So, if they can manage to narrate my life like I’m in a Shakespearian play, I might just be sold. “To be or not to be… oh look, there’s that cab driver again!”
Conclusion: Apple, The Suspense Master
In conclusion, we’re looking at a bit of suspense here. Apple has undoubtedly sparked intrigue with these potential glasses and camera-wielding AirPods. But just as everyone waits upon the release of a long-anticipated movie sequel, we’ve been left with plenty of speculation until we can officially see what Apple has up its sleeve in 2027.
Until then, it’s best to brush up on your ‘why did the chicken cross the road’ jokes, because it seems that for now, the only thing we’ll be wearing is anticipation. Cheers to the future, folks! And watch this space – if it’s not delayed again!
