Apple is preparing a new version of its TV app on tvOS and it will take the opportunity to remove its satellite apps for purchasing films and series. According to the informations of Bloomberg, a tvOS update around December will offer a new version of Apple’s TV app. Its mission will be to strengthen its role as a hub for all video content, that of Apple with Apple TV+ as well as that of suppliers and external channels.
Apple would also take the opportunity to remove the “TV Series” and “iTunes Movies” apps which allow you to rent and buy content, but which duplicate the TV app which offers the same thing.
The new app would use a sidebar for navigation between content, similar to what Netflix, Disney+ and others do. This app will also be deployed on other TV platforms, such as those of LG or Samsung.
