Apple would have a new 30W fuel to GaN adapter

On top of everything else, Apple is reportedly set to launch a new 30W adapter this year. Ming-Chi Kuo echoes this in a tweetwhere he clarifies that the block will have a completely new design, probably smaller thanks to the use of gallium nitride (GaN) technology.

These two USB-C power adapters offer 30 W output, but one of them uses silicon and the other gallium nitride (MacGeneration image).

It wouldn’t be the first time the manufacturer has used GaN: the 140W adapter supplied with the 16-inch MacBook Pro also takes advantage of GaN. This explains the relatively contained size of the brick, despite its power.

Is it possible that this new 30W AC adapter will replace the standard model of 20W current? Unless it’s just replacing the charger 30W current. The TF Securities analyst does not say so.

This is not the first time that this rumor has traveled the spine of the industry: at the end of 2020, the same Kuo predicted multiple GaN chargers from Apple. A hallway noise that we found in great shape in January 2021.
