According to information from
BloombergApple plans to produce its own Bluetooth/Wi-Fi chip for its
iPhone to replace third-party components.
Currently, Apple smartphones integrate Broadcom chips to manage Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections. By manufacturing this component, Apple might reduce its costs. Also according to Bloomberg, this in-house component might arrive in iPhones by 2025.
This is not the first time that Apple has sought to develop its own chips to reduce costs. The company has devoted several years of development to its
modem 5G following buying the business from Intel in 2019 for $1 billion. After some delays, Bloomberg reports that the chip
5G from Apple might enter service in iPhones in late 2024-early 2025.
