Amid growing rumors which indicate that the Apple will launch a HomePod with fabricdetails on tvOS 17.2 firmware revealed by 9to5Mac indicate that Apple may already be testing the operating system on a screen — interestingly… on an iPad!

According to the publication, the files that specify the devices supported by the software indicate that it can also run on the sixth generation iPad mini — in addition to the already supported HomePods and Apple TVs.

This support would also be indicated in the SDKSoftware development kitor software development kit.”>1 of tvOS 17, as well as the presence of drivers for the tablet in frameworks which contains audio calibration data for the devices supported by the system.

As the site correctly noted, Apple probably did not want to make these details public to end consumers (or developers), so everything indicates that they are nothing more than remnants of tests carried out by the company.

Obviously, simply marketing an iPad that runs tvOS shouldn’t be Apple’s plan, so it’s not too radical to consider that it would just be testing the system on a display of a similar size to what a likely future HomePod with a screen will have.

It is worth remembering that, recently, a leaker An image was leaked of what would be a HomePod prototype with an LCD screen, which would be on the top of the device — in the place currently dedicated to the touch-sensitive interface.
