Apple introduced its new iPad Air tablet with many features of its 2020 device, such as design, screen, speakers, rear camera and fingerprint scanner.
But it also added features like an updated front camera with Center Stage and an M1 processor chip, with a mix of features that can be had starting at $599.
Technology website The Verge says that this is currently the lowest price for any device powered by this processor, which it describes as “impressive”.
It also has a 5G option for faster internet connection speeds.
Although it is less specific than its brother, the iPad Pro, this new device got a lot of critics’ praise as a tablet that is the best at this price, and its battery lasts for a long time.
The new Apple device is made entirely of aluminum with flat sides, similar to current iPhone designs.
Compared to the Pro, the iPad Air doesn’t have a ProMotion display, a brighter Mini LED display, or an advanced speaker system like the Pro, with only two speakers instead of four.
The new Air does not have the Face ID facial recognition system found in the Pro
And while the rear camera is still the same 12MP as before, the front camera has been upgraded to a 12MP wide-lens camera with support for Apple’s self-centering Center Stage feature that’s designed to keep you in frame during video calls.
It can work with Apple’s pricey $299 keyboard as a makeshift laptop, and you can draw or write on the screen with the $129 second-generation Apple Pencil.
