Apple will update the iPhone 12 in France in the coming days, in order to comply with European standards on the level of wave emission and obtain the lifting of the withdrawal of its marketing in France, we learned on Friday September 15 , Agence France-Presse with the Californian giant and Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister Delegate in charge of digital technology.
“After discussions and as requested [mardi] by ANFR [Agence nationale des fréquences]the manufacturer Apple assured me that it would implement an update on the iPhone 12 in the coming days », said Jean-Noël Barrot. Failing this, the minister declared that he was ready to request the recall of all devices of this model.
The National Frequency Agency (ANFR) asked Apple on Tuesday September 12 to withdraw the iPhone 12 from the French market. This decision follows the observation that the limit values of electromagnetic waves emitted and absorbed by the human body on this model marketed since the end of 2020. Regarding the iPhone 12, the ANFR noted levels reaching 5.74 watts per kilogram (W/kg), while the limit is set at 4 W/kg.
A probably harmless exposure
“We will release a software update for French users to take into account the protocol used by French regulatory authorities”an Apple spokesperson emphasized in a separate statement.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “There is currently no indication that exposure to low-intensity electromagnetic fields is dangerous for human health”.
