Apple will make its messaging compatible with Android in 2024

Threatened by new European regulations, the Californian group will make sending messages to and from phones from competing brands more compatible.

A major turnaround. After refusing for years to open up its messaging system, Apple announced Friday that it would take a step in 2024 in the direction of its competitors. It will make it easier to send text messages to smartphones running Android. To do this, the Apple brand is adopting the RCS protocol, a recent messaging standard in the telephone industry, to which it had until now refused.
