Apple has announced that it will expand the Communication Security for the Brazil and five other countries in the coming weeks. Launched in late 2021 (US only), the feature automatically hides nude images sent to children using Messages (including iMessage).
In addition to Brazil, the following countries will also be honored with the novelty: Belgium, South Korea, Japan, Netherlands e Sweden. The novelty was confirmed by the Cupertino giant itself when iCulture and other media outlets from the aforementioned countries.
The feature, it is worth remembering, is optional and checks the photos exchanged for “sexually explicit” material to avoid possible cases of abuse once morest children; if anything inappropriate is identified, the photo content is blurred and security alerts are displayed to the user. Also, the option is linked to iCloud Home Sharing.
This whole process, according to Apple, happens locally on the device, so the company cannot access the content of the messages. Even with the feature activated, conversations held by the child continue with end-to-end encryption enabled and no alert is sent to those responsible.
Among the countries that already have the Communication Security feature are: Germany, Australia, Canada, Spain, France, Italy, New Zealand and the United Kingdom — in addition to the USA, of course.
Finally, no? ????
