The new version of Apple’s iOS system provides many new features in all applications. And the one in the “Telephone” application may well disturb users.
It will take time to get used to fully understanding all the new mechanisms of iOS17, the new version of Apple’s operating system, which should arrive in the coming weeks. And the “Telephone” application is likely to be the one that will change the habits of Internet users the most.
Among the expected novelties, the arrival of personalized contact cards, called “posters”, in the same style as the new lock screens that arrived a few months ago. These posters will be displayed in particular when the person tries to call the user. Facetime will also allow you to leave a voice message when the contacted person is not available, a message which will be transcribed in real time.
Reworked display
But a novelty went more unnoticed and was only recently discovered by testers of the beta version of the new version of iOS. As noted by CNBCthe button to hang up during a call will see its location change, just like the rest of the buttons present.
Today, during a telephone conversation on iPhone, seven buttons are positioned on the screen: “Mute”, “Keyboard” and “Speaker” on a first line, “New call”, “FaceTime” and ” Contacts” on a second line then lower down the red button to hang up.
With iOS17, the display has been redesigned to contain only six buttons on two rows. As some screenshots show, the first three buttons could be “Speaker”, “FaceTime” and then “Mute”. Below would be positioned the buttons “Add” (which seems to be a combination of “New Call” and “Contacts”), “Keyboard” and then the famous red button ending the call.

It is therefore easy to imagine iPhone users in the future hanging up on their correspondent without wanting to. A blow to take which should however not be more complicated than the other major changes made by the brand for several years with the new versions of its operating system. With iOS 13, the App Store application updates tab had for example been moved, disrupting user habits.
