Apple Watch: what can affect heart rate measurement?

O heart rate sensor has been present since the first Apple Watchreleased in 2015.

His goal is precisely to keep an eye on how your heartbeats are going (in the background) during the daily use of the watch or in physical activities – and can even alert you when they are too low or too high.

However, if you are experiencing some kind of problem with reading your pulse, we have listed below some tips on what can be done in this situation. ❤️

  • According to Apple, one factor that can affect this sensor is blood flow, which varies from one person to another and can also be affected by the environment in which you are. If you exercise in the cold, for example, this irrigation may be too low – making it impossible for the sensor to take a reading.
  • Some arm tattoos can also affect the normal sensor reading, as certain inks, designs and the saturation of some tattoos can block light from the component.
  • Apple states that the Apple Watch needs to fit comfortably on the wrist — not too loose and not too tight.
  • If you have deactivated the “Heartbeat” function in the privacy settings, the heart rate cannot be measured.
  • Another factor that affects the sensor is movement during physical activity. Rhythmic movements, such as running or cycling, show better results compared to more irregular movements, such as those seen in exercises such as tennis or boxing.

If problems with the heart rate sensor continue to occur, an alternative may be to connect an external heart rate monitor with Bluetooth, for example.
