NameDrop and Double Tap are the key new features of this new update available this evening.
It was in the air, it’s now official. It was this evening that Apple officially released the update for its Apple Watches, watchOS 10.1. This brings some key new features presented by Apple during the keynote, including Double Tap and NameDrop.
Double Tap is exclusive to the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2. It allows, with a simple pinch of the thumb and index finger, to activate several tasks:
Open a message that appears in notification; Answer and end a phone call; Open the Smart Stack and access the widgets; Pause, resume and end a timer; Stop and start a stopwatch; Stop an alarm; Pause and resume music…
On the other hand, NameDrop is finally arriving on smartwatches following the presentation in June. As has been the case since iOS 17 on iPhone, NameDrop allows you to quickly transfer contact data to an acquaintance by bringing an Apple Watch close to an iPhone updated with iOS 17.
To update your Apple Watch, nothing might be simpler. Go to the Watch app on your iPhone, in the tab General then in the menu Software update. Normally, the update should appear.
