Apple Watch: she wants to count her steps but discovers a tumor

This American, originally from Maine, in the northern United States, discovered that she suffered from atrial fibrillation thanks to her Apple Watch.

The story, reported by the daily Today, seems common, but the end result is nonetheless improbable. Kim Durkee just wished she had a step counter and settled on an Apple Watch. Choice that will pay off for his health.

As Kim enjoys her Apple Watch and counts her daily step count, she begins to receive “disturbing” notifications. Indeed, no warning sign of heart trouble for this American.

After initial examinations, the doctors discovered that he had atrial fibrillation known as AFib. This arrhythmia can lead to blood clots, stroke, heart failure, and other cardiovascular problems.

However, following an ultrasound of the heart, the doctors discovered that he had a myxoma (a non-cancerous tumor located on the heart) which can cause strokes.

Kim therefore had open-heart surgery to remove this tumor. Since that day, she always wears her Apple Watch.
