The memo mentioned that some users reported accidental touches on the Apple Watch Series 9 or Ultra 2 screens, and some people called this phenomenon “ghost touch.” According to Apple, the screens of affected products may jump for no reason or exhibit other abnormal behaviors, and may even automatically make calls and prevent users from entering passwords.

Apple recommends users to update the Apple Watch system to the latest version, suggesting that future watchOS updates may solve this problem. However, the memo did not mention the extent of the problem or a specific timetable for repairs. Apple has not clarified whether there is a hardware defect causing this problem.

During the investigation, Apple asked technicians to temporarily suspend repairs on affected Apple Watches. As a temporary solution, technicians will instruct users to press and hold the digital crown and side button at the same time for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears to force restart the watch.
