Apple Watch Series 8 reportedly comes with body temperature monitoring feature

Fans of Apple products expect the Watch Series 8 incorporates a body temperature measurement feature. Yes, we can consider this possibility, but the wearable might be a long time coming.

According to some sources, it will take at least a year to see the Apple Watch Series 8 land on the market. A hypothesis that does not seem to be unanimous, because Kuo claims in a new report that the wearable might be released in the second half of 2022. Better still, it might act as a body thermometer! According to the famous analyst, to succeed in taking body temperature with a connected watch, it is not enough only to use the right hardware and the right software.

Apple may suddenly have some difficulties to overcome.

A problem that also affects Samsung

This is also the case for Samsung. It is very likely that the next Samsung Galaxy Watch will still not be able to monitor the body temperature of its wearer. Kuo believes that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 may not be able to perform this type of measurement before the second half of 2022. The reason is that its algorithms have a limited capacity.

That corroborates the assumptions that have been made by the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg regarding the Apple Watch Series 8.

Why is this feature difficult to adopt?

Indeed, the temperature of our skin varies enormously. It depends on different external conditions, such as exposure to the sun. Therefore, it is difficult to measure it effectively.

Moreover, since the smartwatch is worn on the wrist, it is not easy for such a device to measure the overall body temperature. Indeed, this part is not the best place to collect such data. However, experts believe that it is possible to achieve this with a more precise algorithm and suitable hardware.

As for the Apple Watch Series 7, it is unlikely that it will one day receive an update to measure the temperature of the body of its user. This is due to the fact that this model incorporates a processor that is incompatible with this feature. Moreover, it does not include any sensor designed to carry out such an operation. But to appeal to consumers, the product has been equipped with a larger and also brighter screen, compared to that of its predecessor.

We will therefore see if the firm will choose the body temperature monitoring function as one of the major updates accompanying its Watch Series 8…
