A woman’s life was saved with the help of a Apple Watch following being a victim of aortic aneurysm, considered a serious illness. Her son was the one who made the story public on Reddit and, of course, showed immense gratitude following the clock helped save his mother.

According to the user, identified only as Xanderpy, she had traveled for work and, upon arriving at the hotel, she began to feel a pain in her chest. Before passing out, the woman managed to send a message to a friend who was in the same hotel and “collapsed on the floor face down”.

When she got to the room, the friend promptly called the emergency service, but learned from the attendants that an ambulance was already on the way. According to Xanderpy, when passing out, the Fall Detection of the Apple Watch was triggered and, as there was no response, it triggered the emergency automatically.

At the hospital, the doctors said that the woman had ruptured her aorta, a very serious consequence of the aneurysm that requires the immediate transfer of the patient to the hospital.

Grateful to be with his mother once more, Xanderpy once thought stories like this were just for “publicity or possibly made up”.

Obviously, I don’t think so anymore. […] It made me an Apple user for life and showed me that technology like this really can save lives.

Amazing, isn’t it?
