The developer Hidde van der Ploeg released the watchGPT app for the Apple Watch on Tuesday. The software can directly via the App Store can be purchased and downloaded for EUR 4.99. The app comes with a complication that allows the application to be launched directly from the watch face.
Once the app is open, users can make a request by voice, which is then processed and answered by ChatGPT. Especially on the Apple Watch, on which conventional search engines can hardly be used sensibly due to the small display, watchGPT presents itself as a more attractive alternative for looking up something quickly. Apart from simple conversations with the artificial intelligence, watchGPT also allows to share the answers via email, SMS or on social networks.
The developer assures that watchGPT does not collect any data. The app can currently be used in English, Dutch, French and Spanish. The developer is currently working on a number of new features to be added via free updates in the future, including the ability to read AI responses out loud through the Apple Watch’s speaker and have full conversations – currently one-question-only. In the future, the complication should also start voice input directly instead of just opening the app, while a history should save previous requests.
