A Apple is investing in new technologies to maintain user privacy on their future screens iPhones e Macs. Two new patents reveal how the company seeks to prevent others from seeing what is playing on your device’s screen.
The first [PDF] called “Privacy films for curved displays” (in free translation: “Privacy films for curved screens”) and consists of using a type of film that works as a filter.
In practice, this means that if you are looking directly at the screen, you can see everything normally. But if someone tries to look from one side, they will only see a blurry image or even nothing at all.
Already the second proposal [PDF] called “Displays with adjustable angles of view” (“Screens with adjustable viewing angles”, in free translation), which is a little more complex than the previous one.
She suggests that screens have an adjustable, electronically controlled filter that allows the user to decide who can see what is on the screen. This might even restrict the view according to the colors of what is being shown.
Although the patents seem to show promising paths, they do not confirm that Apple will adopt the features in the next generations of its products. Still, it’s good to see that the giant is studying features of this type in order to improve privacy.
