On the eve of the start of pre-sales of the Apple Vision Pro In the United States, we are being flooded with a lot of new information regarding the product — just imagine when it reaches consumers! The fact is that, now, information shows that the headset (most likely) will not support the Wi-Fi 6E.
As seen by MacRumors, the Vision Pro approval document at the FCC indicates that the product does not have any approved operating frequency in the 6GHz band (characteristics of Wi-Fi 6E). Additionally, one of Apple’s official app files confirms that the headset only supports the Wi-Fi 6which is capable of operating between 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies.
This information was, in a way, expected, since the Vision Pro hardware (as highlighted by the 9to5Mac) was completed before Apple launched its first products with Wi-Fi 6E support — more precisely, the 14″ and 16″ MacBooks Pro with M2 Pro/Max chips, announced almost a year ago.
Returning to the FCC, the data also suggests that the Vision Pro will not feature a chip de banda to the ultras (ultrawide bandor UWB) — deduction that results from the absence of a specific report on UWB that is present in the filing regarding the iPhones 15 Pro/15 Pro Max, for example.
Apple, it’s worth remembering, uses UWB chips in its mobile devices mainly to obtain precise location data for the Search network (Find My) and to facilitate data exchange (AirDrop). Like what happens with Macs, Apple may not see much need for this mechanism in a device like the Vision Pro, who knows.
