the CEOChief executive officeror executive director.”>1 and Apple, Tim Cookit gave an interview with the program Good Morning Americafrom the US broadcaster ABC, centered on the Apple Vision Pro, in which he comments on the advances and novelties of the product announced last Monday (5/6). He also shared his views on artificial intelligence and applications such as ChatGPT.

He, right away, said that the product is the most advanced electronic device released to date, in addition to representing the “engineering of tomorrow”, only in today’s world, in the sense that Apple would be taking users into the future. The executive pointed out that the company has been working with augmented reality for some time and that the device represents a step forward in that direction.

When dealing with products involving virtual reality, it is natural that immersion and the idea that the user is “entering another world” come to mind. However, an important point of Apple’s headset development, according to Cook, was that do not isolate the user, but connecting it to the people around. This may be a defining and distinctive factor of the product in relation to competitors.

Something interesting highlighted by Cook is that Apple Vision Pro does not focus on just one application of AR/VR (or spatial computing, as he called it): it is a platform with all the innovations presented, ready for developers’ creations. Regarding the high price of the product, he said he does not know if people will be able to buy it, but that it is a great value considering all the technology embedded in the headset.

Regarding AI, he said it is a technology with great potential, but that needs deliberate and careful development, considering biases, misinformation and even “worse in some cases”. The executive also defended the regulation of AI systems, said that he uses ChatGPT and that it is something that is being studied by Apple “closely”.

Cook also commented on an issue involving redemptions of savings account values launched by Apple in the United States. The interview is not very long, but despite also including points already made in the opening keynote of WWDC23, it showed a little more of the process behind the highly anticipated Vision Pro.
