The iPhone 15 Pro brought Apple’s video applications out of their torpor. Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Motion and Compressor are updated to use the Log video recording format, managed by the new iPhones. A recording mode that produces lighter files than RAW and provides greater dynamic range for post-production grading.
This new skill in these software comes with specific bug fixes and a handful of improvements.
iMovie
Final Cut Pro X
Improved rendering of images shot with popular Fujifilm, DJI and ARRI camera models using new log profiles. Fixed an issue where the Opacity setting was sometimes not applied in Motion templates.
Motion
Improved performance when using the “Snap to” behavior. Fixed an issue that might cause Motion to crash when playing 3D titles in high quality.
Compressor
Fixed an issue that prevented the source/output comparison viewer from reflecting the camera log selection. Fixed an issue causing the “Show in Finder” option to be unavailable for clips with changed audio settings. Fixed an issue that might cause luminance levels to be read incorrectly when the Job Inspector color space and Output color space were set to Rec. 709.
