Apple: the CEO of Epic Games (Fortnite) criticizes the increase in prices on the App Store

The Apple brand recently announced a price increase for App Store applications. A decision that does not please Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games and fervent critic of the Cupertino company.

It’s not just Fortnite’s removal from the App Store that has Sweeney upset. The Epic Games boss recently complained about rising prices on the app store, even going so far as to compare Apple to an unscrupulous owner.

“Imagine if a landlord told their tenant that they needed to raise their prices without the tenant having a say in the matter or anywhere else to go.,” Sweeney says in his post. “It’s what Apple does to developers for no other reason than to increase the company’s bottom line. They unilaterally impose a price increase on developers in several countries without any justification. Developers have no choice but to comply because the App Store is the only way to reach over a billion iOS users.”

The CEO is not wrong. Apple does not allow apps to be installed outside the App Store (unless you hack your smartphone), a position that has been heavily criticized and continues to be controversial.
