A Goertekone of Apple’s main suppliers, will invest up to US$280 million to open a new branch in Vietnam. This step aims to increase the company’s production and strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia.

According to the South China Morning Postthe new factory should produce several Apple products, including AirPods e Apple Watches. The information was disclosed in a document sent to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

Goertek plans to use Vietnam’s resources to become stronger in the world market. Furthermore, Apple chose this supplier to be one of the main manufacturers of the Vision Prowhich will hit store shelves in the United States in February.

This move by Apple to take its production out of China happens because, during the pandemic, China’s strict rules against COVID-19 disrupted the company’s production and sales, especially at Christmas 2022.

After these challenges, the giant is asking its manufacturers to produce in other countries. Vietnam, for example, became a good option for this. The new Goertek factory will be in Bắc Ninh province, an area that already has investments from several South Korean companies, such as the giant Samsung.
