Apple still wants to resurrect 12 MacBook”, says leaker

When Apple launched the first chips in the Apple Silicon family, much was said regarding the possibility of the company resurrecting the old macbook 12 inch — launched in 2015 and discontinued in 2019 following a somewhat troubled life. The notebook, despite being compact, suffered from the infamous butterfly keyboard and the lack of power from the Intel chips.

After a while without news regarding a possible return of the model, a leaker identified as “yeux1122” said yesterday on the South Korean blog Naven that Apple still plans to bring it back. The information, according to him, would have been confirmed by a source in a company that supplies parts to Apple in Taiwan.

To be leaker, worth noting, has already hit some predictions regarding Apple releases in the past, despite being somewhat unknown. According to him, the company is still considering the return of the 12″ MacBook, but should make a final decision in the second half.

The information, it is worth noting, does not make it clear which chip would equip the model and not even if it would even bring the butterfly keyboard back — as was speculated in 2020. They, however, support the prediction of Mark Gurman, da Bloombergthat the 12″ MacBook would return sometime between late 2023 and early 2024.

Equipped with a single USB-C port and a passive cooling system, the 12-inch MacBook was the first notebook to use the design language that was also borrowed from the latest generation MacBook Pro (with TouchBar) and MacBook Air.

So, looking forward to the return of the model?
