Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Apple will reportedly launch a cheap version of the Vision Pro headset. The device, which is predicted to be a replacement for the iPhone in the future, is still being sold at a fairly expensive price, reaching US$3,499 or the equivalent of Rp. 55.1 million.
It is known, Vision Pro presents a mixed reality experience, which combines augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (virtual reality/VR).
Various activities currently carried out on your cellphone can be transferred to a more intuitive experience in Vision Pro.
Unfortunately, the high price makes sales of the Vision Pro less fast. In fact, The Information some time ago reported that Apple had decided to reduce production of the Vision Pro since the middle of this year.
One employee at the Vision Pro production facility said the factory had stopped production since last May.
Most recently, Apple is predicted to make the Vision Pro at a more pocket-friendly price. Veteran analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said production would be postponed until 2027.
“This means that the new head-mounted device from Apple in 2025 will be the Vision Pro with the M5 chip upgrade,” said Kuo, quoted from his personal X account, Tuesday (5/11/2024).
Kuo said Apple had a reason to delay the release of the cheap version of the Vision Pro, namely by presenting a device that maintains high quality even though the price is affordable.
“I think what prompted Apple to delay the release of the cheap version of the Vision Pro is that the price reduction has not been able to create a successful device,” he said.

Apple’s Vision Pro: Revolution or Overpriced Paperweight?
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – So, Apple is planning to launch a cheaper version of its Vision Pro headset. You remember the Vision Pro, right? It’s that pricey little gadget everyone loves to talk about but nobody seems to actually buy! At the cool price of $3,499—or about the same as a second-hand car—you could own a piece of ‘augmented reality’ that promises to change your life. Or at least your view of what you’re watching on Netflix… if you can handle that price tag!
The Vision Pro is undoubtedly a marvel of technology; it brings together augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) into a mixed reality experience that sounds incredibly futuristic. One minute, you can be in a boardroom or the next, a distant galaxy, all from the comfort of your living room—so that’s what they mean by “living in a fantasy world!”
However, the reality of this high-tech wonder isn’t quite as dreamy as it sounds. The market for Vision Pro has been slower than a dial-up connection at a grandma’s house! Reports suggest that Apple had to cut down production since May because, well, nobody’s buying these breathtaking headsets—except maybe tech billionaires looking to make their homes a little more… spaceship-like. Imagine having guests over for dinner and offering them the VR headset instead of the Wi-Fi password!
Cheap Version Coming! But… Not Just Yet!
Now, they’re teetering on the brink of releasing a more “pocket-friendly” version. Veteran analyst Ming-Chi Kuo—the oracle of Apple rumors—has hinted that production will be delayed until 2027. Why? It appears Apple wants to ensure that the cheaper version doesn’t turn into the ‘cheaper but worse’ version, basically aiming for high quality at a discount price. Because clearly, they don’t want to be known for producing knock-offs like they’re part of the ‘internet marketplace’—the kind you see with badly assembled furniture!
Kuo pointed out that Apple realized that slashing prices alone won’t create a bestseller—the magic potion lies in quality. So, they’re aiming for a product that can truly revolutionize how we interact with technology, as long as you’re willing to wait a few more years. Because nothing says ‘I’m cool’ like wearing high-tech goggles at a dinner party… five years from now. Maybe start practicing your ‘wow’ expression in the mirror now.
But let’s face it. By 2025, we might be having telepathy sessions with our devices, effectively rendering the Vision Pro as obsolete as a flip phone. This pushes the classic question of whether it’s worth it—will we be living in the Stone Age of technology by the time Apple decides to play nice with the pricing? Or will they keep trying to convince us that living your daily life through a headset is the future?
Final Thoughts
So, to sum it all up: Apple is gearing up for a launch of a cheaper version of the Vision Pro, but they’ll be doing it very, very slowly—like trying to convince a cat to take a bath! The hopes for a more inclusive price point are high, but with Apple, you’re almost always playing the waiting game. Who knows? In the meantime, perhaps we should all just stick with our good old iPhones—at least they don’t need batteries and goggles to make a call!
But hey, at least when Apple finally drops that ‘budget’ headset, it’ll be a fantastic way to distract from their next iPhone release—that’s the real trick!

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Apple is gearing up to launch a more affordable version of its Vision Pro headset, a move anticipated by tech enthusiasts seeking a more budget-friendly option. The current model, which boasts advanced technology and innovation, retails at a steep price of US$3,499, roughly translating to Rp. 55.1 million, a significant investment for consumers.
Vision Pro is designed to deliver a cutting-edge mixed reality experience, seamlessly blending augmented reality (AR) with virtual reality (VR) features.
The headset aims to enhance everyday activities typically conducted on smartphones, transforming them into an immersive and more intuitive experience within the Vision Pro environment.
However, the high price point has had an adverse effect on sales momentum, leading to disappointing market performance. Reports indicate that Apple has faced challenges in moving units at the anticipated pace; in fact, The Information revealed that the company made the strategic decision to cut back on Vision Pro production beginning in mid-year 2023.
Insider sources from the Vision Pro production facility have confirmed that manufacturing operations were halted entirely as of last May, highlighting significant shifts in Apple’s production strategy.
Looking ahead, analysts predict that an affordable version of the Vision Pro is on the horizon, but production timelines may extend until 2027. Veteran analyst Ming-Chi Kuo noted that this delay means the upcoming Vision Pro model in 2025 will feature an upgraded M5 chip, promising enhanced performance and capabilities.
Kuo further elaborated on Apple’s rationale for postponing the launch of a budget-friendly version of the Vision Pro, emphasizing the company’s commitment to maintaining high quality while reducing cost. He stated, “I think what prompted Apple to delay the release of the cheap version of the Vision Pro is that the price reduction has not been able to create a successful device,” underscoring the complex balance between affordability and quality.

Immersive experience that could redefine how users interact with digital content. However, the high price point has resulted in sluggish sales, leading Apple to scale back production significantly. Reports indicate production was cut as early as May of this year, reflecting the device’s less-than-stellar market performance.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has noted that Apple plans to delay the launch of this more affordable headset version until 2027. The reasoning behind the postponement stems from Apple’s desire to ensure that the new headset maintains high quality while being offered at a lower price point. Kuo emphasizes that merely lowering the price won’t guarantee success; the focus will remain on delivering a product that meets Apple’s high standards.
The anticipation for a budget-friendly variant of the Vision Pro suggests a strong consumer interest in mixed reality technologies. Still, prospective buyers may have to wait a few years, leading to questions about the headset’s relevance as technology rapidly evolves. As Apple navigates this complex transition, many wonder whether the Vision Pro will be a revolutionary staple in households or simply a passing fad overshadowed by new advancements in technology by the time it becomes more accessible.
In essence, while Apple is taking steps towards making the Vision Pro more attainable for a broader audience, the journey remains long, and consumers may be left contemplating their options in the meantime. With ongoing developments in technology, it’s clear that the competition in the mixed reality space will only intensify, raising the stakes for Apple’s strategic decisions.
