Some services from Apple may be regarding to stop working on older versions of systems to iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch e Apple TVaccording to new information obtained by the leaker @StellaFudge.
According to the source, the information comes from an “internal document intended for consultants” and indicates that services such as Apple TV+o Apple Musico Apple Arcade and the Apple Fitness+ will stop running on some systems from the beginning of May.
As detailed above, only the iCloud will continue to run on affected systems, which include:
- iOS 11 until the iOS 11.2.6
- macOS High Sierra 10.13 until the macOS 10.13.3
- watchOS 4 until the watchOS 4.2.3
- tvOS 11 until the tvOS 11.2.6
Most devices running the aforementioned systems, it is worth noting, are compatible with newer updates that will theoretically continue to support access to Apple services.
For example:
- iOS 11 can be updated to iOS 11.4.1
- macOS High Sierra 10.13 can be upgraded to macOS 10.3.6
- watchOS 4 can be upgraded to watchOS 4.3.2
- tvOS 11 can be updated to tvOS 11.4.1
Although Apple has not yet confirmed the change, a support document was published a few weeks ago in which it explains that some users may receive a notification warning that their software version will no longer support Apple services — such as the App Store, the Siri and Maps. In this way, Apple asks users to update their software to the latest version available to continue using these services.
In any case, it is always advisable to keep your device(s) up to date — and the reason for this “break” of services probably has to do with the fact that these old versions have critical security holes.
