The request of Universal Music GroupApple and other companies removed the song “Heart on my Sleeve” of your catalogues. The song was generated by artificial intelligence from snippets of songs by rapper Drake and singer The Weeknd.

Released on digital platforms last Friday, the song has gone viral on social media. wanted by BBCthe author of the song — known as @ghostwriter — confirmed that it was created by software trained to imitate the voices of the artists.
Apple Music removed the song on Monday, followed by other services including Deezer, TIDAL, TikTok, Spotify and YouTube. To the BBCUniversal Music Group said:
These cases demonstrate why platforms have a fundamental legal and ethical responsibility to prevent the use of their services in ways that harm artists. We are encouraged by our platform partners’ involvement in these issues as they recognize that they need to be part of the solution.
Jani Ihalainen, a lawyer specializing in intellectual property, told the English website that the copyright law is not so clear regarding this specific case. According to him, UK law gives artists certain rights over their performances, including creating copies of recordings of specific performances.
However, a software-imitated voice (deepfaked), which does not specifically copy a presentation, is unlikely to be covered and might even be considered a protected work in its own right.
Current legislation is far from adequate to deal with deepfakes and potential issues in terms of intellectual property rights and other rights.
None of the artists who had their voices imitated commented on the released music.
