Overall, Apple is not changing the formula for its 3rd generation of Apple TV 4K multimedia box. Still taking the name of Apple TV 4K, this 2022 vintage is offered in two variants. The first offers 64 GB of storage space and connectivity limited to wifi 6. The second has 128 GB of storage space and accommodates a Gigabit network socket in addition to wifi 6.
The box has the same curves as the second generation Apple TV 4K, but is very slightly smaller. The parallelepiped is now 93 x 93 mm square for a thickness of 31 mm. Discretion guaranteed under the TV. Inside, there is also an infrared receiver, an integrated power supply and support for Bluetooth 5.0. The protocol Thread is also supported, allowing the Apple TV 4K to act as a bridge.
The biggest change comes from the chip used. The SoC A12 Bionic engraved in 7 nm gives way to an A15 Bionic engraved in 5 nm, directly inherited from iPhone 13 and of theiPad Mini 6. Apple claims that this new chip offers CPU performance up 50%, 30% in games and, all of this, while being 30% less energy-consuming.

The remote control is directly inherited from the previous model. The Siri Remote is thus always made of aluminum and non-backlit black buttons. A side button activates voice recognition via the Siri home assistant.
The surprise finally comes from the pricing, revised downwards. The entry-level version (64 GB + wifi) is thus offered at €169 while the high-end version (128 GB, wifi + ethernet) is offered at €189. It’s 30 € cheaper than on the 2nd generation Apple TV which also offered half the storage space.
