Finally the pre-sale day Apple Vision Pro has arrived and we already have some more details regarding the long-awaited device! The company released a guided tour of the augmented/virtual reality headset, as well as another video that shows stages of manufacturing the device.

Videos are available on page regarding or Vision Pro on the company’s website and Apple’s YouTube channel; The guided tour shows the key elements of interacting with the system and spatial computing, as well as what it’s like to work on it and what it’s like to consume entertainment using visionOS.

Even though it is relatively similar to the promotional videos that Apple has already released regarding the headset, the tour reveals some interesting details regarding the device. You can see the EyeSight display in action, showing “the eyes” of whoever is using it to other people nearby, as well as navigation gestures to open applications, zoom in on photos and the like.

The entire tour shows one person using the Vision Pro with another person at their side (Allessandra McGinnis, the device’s product manager, who guides the demonstration), emphasizing the already well-known idea that the objective of the headset is not to isolate whoever is using it, but to maintain integration with the surroundings. The software itself is built on this premise.

Navigation in visionOS is done using eyes, hands and voice. Several commands involve looking at a corner and making pinching movements with your fingers, sometimes moving your hands in certain ways. Also shown is the immersive display of content such as photos, panoramas, videos (including space videos), films and series, which can be enlarged until they occupy the entire displayed environment.

You can connect your Vision Pro to your MacBook and use your laptop with the Sidecar, viewing the macOS screen on the headset at an enlarged size. Multitasking is also shown, with several windows open, one next to the other, as well as playing music with Spatial Audio and video calls on FaceTime with one Persona of the user being displayed to whoever is on the other end of the call.

Among the visionOS native apps, interestingly there is one called Encounter Dinosaurs (“Encounter Dinosaurs”), which offers an immersive experience with… dinosaurs (demonstrated on the tour), as well as a meditation experience. A capture app will also be available to record spatial photos and videos.

There are also other well-known Apple apps optimized for visionOS, such as Photos, Freeform, Notes and Mail, although some such as Maps, Books, Calendar and Stock have not yet been optimized for the new device — at least initially; In these cases, their iPad versions will be used.

Books, Calendar, Home, Maps, News, Podcasts, Reminders, Stocks, Shortcuts and Voice Recorder will strangely not be optimized for visionOS, at least at first.

visionOS also has an area called “Environments” (“Environments”), where there is an immersive display of locations — something that can also be used by third-party apps. When talking to someone in front of you, the person is displayed in the environment shown, so as not to isolate the user.

Manufacturing process

In addition to publicizing the guided tour, the CEO1Chief executive officeror executive director. da Apple, Tim Cookreleased a video on his X account (formerly Twitter) titled “Making Vision Pro”which shows details regarding the various steps in manufacturing the Vision Pro.
