A Apple discreetly changed the specifications page Vision Pro just hours following the pre-sale of the headset went live, last Friday (19/1). The change, however, reduces the device’s capacity related to AirPlay.
That the Vision Pro will support AirPlay is nothing new; however, this was confirmed with the headset’s specifications page — which originally detailed that screen mirroring worked at a resolution of up to 1080p. The fact is that, shortly followingwards, Apple started to highlight that this will be limited to 720p.
This is the only information that was changed on the page and, given that the headset itself is capable of displaying video in very high quality, even the then support for 1080p was a little below expectations — and, with this “downgrade”, that is even more significant.
It is not yet known exactly why this late, last-minute change was made, but there is speculation that the company’s plan was to offer mirroring at up to 1080p, but possible performance issues affected these plans and it published a wrong/outdated compilation of the specifications.
In any case, as already announced, it will be possible to transmit the Apple Vision Pro screen to an iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV (2nd generation or later) or AirPlay-enabled smart TVs.
