What criteria do music curators use to select tracks for Apple Music’s “Best of 2024” playlists?
**Interview with a Music Curator: Exploring Apple Music’s Best of 2024 Playlists**
**Interviewer:** Welcome! Thanks for joining us today. Apple Music recently unveiled its “Best of 2024” playlists. Can you share what inspired these curated lists?
**Guest:** Absolutely! The idea was to reflect the diversity and richness of music throughout 2024. With over 100 million songs in the Apple Music catalog, we wanted to highlight not just the most popular tracks but also explore different genres and rhythms from around the world. It’s all about showcasing what made this year special in music.
**Interviewer:** That’s exciting! I noticed there’s a wide range of genres included, like Thai pop and Turkish rap. How do you go about selecting these specific tracks and genres?
**Guest:** It’s a collaborative effort! Our team of curators analyzes listening trends, cultural influences, and fan engagement. We consider emerging artists and traditionally popular genres to create a blend that resonates on a global scale. By including genres like Thai pop and Turkish rap, we can introduce listeners to sounds they might not typically explore.
**Interviewer:** Spatial Audio is a big focus for Apple Music. How do you incorporate that technology into your playlists?
**Guest:** Spatial Audio enhances the listening experience by creating an immersive environment. Many of our curated playlists feature tracks that support Dolby Atmos, allowing listeners to feel like they’re right in the middle of a live performance. It’s a game changer for appreciating the nuances in music.
**Interviewer:** Can you highlight any standout playlists that you think listeners should check out?
**Guest:** Definitely! “Pure Pop” and “Very Indie” are fantastic for those looking for upbeat hits and fresh sounds. For something unique, “Onda Taiwan Village” captures the essence of Taiwanese music. And of course, our list for Indian pop, including hits de Bollywood, really showcases vibrant rhythms and melodies.
**Interviewer:** What has the feedback been like from artists and listeners regarding these playlists?
**Guest:** Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive! Artists feel honored to be featured, and listeners express excitement about discovering new music. We’ve seen a genuine increase in engagement within diverse genres, which indicates that our efforts to diversify the playlists resonate well with our audience.
**Interviewer:** That’s wonderful to hear! Before we wrap up, any final thoughts or sneak peeks for next year that you can share?
**Guest:** While I can’t give too much away, I can say our team is already looking at emerging trends and collaborations for 2025. Expect more innovative playlists that blend genres and introduce listeners to even more global sounds. We want to keep the momentum going!
**Interviewer:** Thank you for your insights! We look forward to seeing what Apple Music delivers in the next year.
**Guest:** Thank you for having me! Happy listening!
