Apple may dispense with the fingerprint feature in the iPhone 15

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gorman, Apple won’t release a new iPhone with TouchID in the near future.

Gorman said it’s not likely that the TouchID fingerprint sensor will return to the flagship iPhone models, especially the iPhone 15 version.

Over the past few years, there have been discussions within Apple regarding bringing the fingerprint feature back to high-end iPhones, and the company tested the feature, which made many believe that it will remain in high-end iPhones and will not be abandoned. Touch ID will continue to work on the iPhone SE and some iPad models, including the iPad mini 6.

As for high-end devices, Apple uses a Face ID that can unlock the device if you look at it right away. This feature is present in the iPhone 14 as well as the iPad Pro.

Rumors say that Apple is planning to add both TouchID fingerprint and FaceID in-screen facial recognition on iPhones, but it may take a long time to do so.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had previously said that he expects the Touch ID fingerprint feature to return to the iPhone in 2025. He pointed out that the delay is due to development and production bottlenecks, according to the Indian Express.
