The journalist Zoë Schiffer reported that the Apple is finally loosening its COVID-19 policiesas the situation is stable and apparently well under control.
During the pandemic, Maçã and many other companies needed to be vigilant and intensified control and access for everyone in their work environments. As part of these efforts, employees were required to undergo COVID-19 testing before entering their offices in order to prevent the virus from spreading.
Now, according to anonymous sources, this measure will be abolished from January 30th. In addition, several modifications were also made to the sick leave policy.
When an employee had symptoms related to COVID-19, they might take unlimited leave days. However, the new policies — which will take effect in August — will only allow an employee to take a maximum of five sick days.
By loosening these measures, the company seeks to encourage the return of face-to-face work following so long. Employees only returned in person in April 2022, following two years of remote work, and only last September did the company require everyone to show up three times a week.
If everything is back to normal, there is hope that one of Apple’s most anticipated events, the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023leave the pre-recorded sessions — which have become the standard since the beginning of the pandemic — to give way to an in-person event in Apple Park or perhaps back to the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, as it happened until 2019.
