Apple Launches New Macs with Longer Life and Better Performance

The new lineup will give consumers a new incentive to upgrade, especially since many of them were asking for a larger version of the (MacBook Air) device.

Apple is facing a broad slump in the computer industry, which has seen a surge in sales during the pandemic-induced work-from-home frenzy. The slowdown has hit the company especially, as its Mac sales fell 31% in the last quarter to regarding $7.2 billion — more than what Wall Street had feared.

Apple’s shift to processors is credited with helping its computers last longer and perform better under heavy workloads. The latest Macs also boost battery life and can run iPhone apps.

These changes carry multiple benefits for Apple, because some consumers now don’t upgrade their devices as often. This, along with the economic challenges, may contribute to slowing sales. Prior to Monday, Apple had not released a major new Mac since the launch of the MacBook Air last year.

However, the company has more development work to do. It is working on the production of the “M3” processor, as well as an update for the “MacBook Air” 13-inch, “MacBook Pro” 13-inch, and “iMac”, according to Bloomberg.

The company is also set to unveil Apple’s long-awaited mixed reality headset on Monday, its first foray into a market currently dominated by Meta Platforms.
