Apple launches 10th generation iPad with eSIM in China; price rises 36%

The launch of an Apple Pencil with a USB-C port was the only news announced today by Apple in much of the world, but not in China. This is because, in the country, Apple launched a new variant of 10th generation iPad com eSIM support.

The only country where it is not possible to configure a virtual chip on Apple tablets — which can be attested on this support pagestill outdated — China now has the model A3162 of the 10th generation iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular, which simply adds this support.

According to Apple, China Unicom is the only operator that already supports the new feature. Obviously, users will also continue to be able to use a physical chip in the country — as was already possible before today’s announcement.

In any case, the novelty will not be “free” for consumers. As noted by Gizmochina, there was an increase of around 36% in the value of the tablet, even without any other relevant new features added to the product. It was a movement contrary to what we saw here, for example.

Is it coming?

As Apple probably managed to break through regulatory barriers that prevented eSIM support, it is to be expected that the Chinese, in the future, will also be able to count on the technology in iPhones — devices that also only have slots for physical chips not country.
