Apple is working on a 15″ MacBook Air

According to the latest rumors, Apple could also offer the MacBook Air with a larger display in the future.

At the latest when the M1 devices were released at the end of 2020, I noticed an interesting gap in the MacBook line up. In my environment and also online, there were many who were interested in one of the new Apple Silicon MacBooks, but also expected a larger display. After the presentation of the M1, if you thought economically and future-oriented, there was no laptop over 13″ in the Apple product range that you could buy. The only option was the 16″ MacBook Pro with an Intel processor. That only changed almost a year later with the release of the new MacBook Pros. However, there is still a problem. Anyone who only needs a MacBook with a large display is still limited to the 16″ MacBook Pro. Those who do not benefit from the higher performance of the MacBook Pro pay €1620 more for a larger display. This upgrade is only an option for very few buyers. Apparently Apple recognized this problem as well. According to several reports, Apple is working on a MacBook with two display sizes. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the two models should be designed in such a way that they can get by with a 30W power supply.

The new MagSafe connector from the MacBook Pro could be added

This clearly speaks against the theory that what is being developed is “only” the new MacBook Pros, since they require significantly more powerful power supplies. Whether the new devices will be branded as MacBook Air or whether there will be another new product line is uncertain. This is not surprising given that the analyst expects mass production to start in the fourth quarter of 2023. Until then, there will certainly be more information about what may be a new product line in the Mac division.
